Catalyst trips are alternative spring breaks designed for and by students to engage with issues around justice and community through the participation of direct service. Themes of Catalyst trips include: homelessness and hunger, food justice, disaster relief, issues in the queer community, immigrant and refugee rights, and community development. These trips take place in cities across the country, including: Detroit, Milwaukee, Chicago, San Francisco, New Orleans, and Washington D.C. Below, you will find highlights of my experiences of traveling to San Francisco and New Orleans as a student participant.
